A Rich and Romantic Heritage…

 The story of Chocolaterie Guylian began in 1960 with the marriage of Guy Foubert to Liliane. Hence the company name 'Guylian', created by combining the first names of the bride and groom (Guy and Liliane). At that time Guy and Liliane Foubert had a small production unit at home, producing pralines and truffles which they sold to the local chocolate shops.



The Chocolate Seashell is born…

Business went well, but chocolatier Guy Foubert felt something new was needed, a new creation. He came up with the idea of making chocolates in the shape of seashells. This heralded the start of a worldwide success story and the chocolate seashell was born!

Following the success of the chocolate Seashells, Guylian now offers a wide range of premium gift boxes, individually wrapped chocolates and bars. All are made from the finest Belgian chocolate with the recipe of Guylian's Chocolatiers, guaranteeing an absolute great taste.

The Finest Belgian chocolates…

 Guylian creates all its great tasting Belgian chocolates with only the finest Belgian chocolate, originating from a unique blend of West African cocoa beans. Our chocolate is always made with 100% cocoa butter. Only natural ingredients are used with no additives.

 

 

In-house roasted hazelnut praliné filling…

The hazelnut praliné - the filling of the famous Chocolate Seashells and many other Guylian
creations - is Guylian’s true treasure. The praliné is still made today using the same secret recipe, in the
age-old traditional manner.

The main ingredient of our praliné is hazelnuts, which are sourced from the best Mediterranean growing regions. The hand-selected hazelnuts are roasted and caramelized with our own artisan system. They are then immediately crushed and grounded to maximum fineness, after which the smooth paste is mixed with Belgian milk chocolate. Every production step, from raw hazelnut to praliné filled chocolate, is performed under the supervision of the Guylian’s chocolatiers to ensure the highest standard of quality is maintained.

The secret recipe, the unique production system and the first quality ingredients result in our deliciously tasting praliné. The smoothness and richness of the filling give a unique taste sensation which chocolate lovers all around the world describe as incomparable and unforgettable.

Our ingredients are all of the highest quality. Our chocolate is true Belgian chocolate, with 100% cocoa butter and no vegetable fats. The hazelnuts of the Seashells praliné filling are made by Guylian, starting from the raw hand selected hazelnuts from the best Mediterranean growing regions.
